- Designed to grow your wealth over the long term
- Built on disciplined, time-tested investing principles
Managed by Us, Built for You.
Gaard Capital makes professional, time-tested investing accessible. We build a diversified portfolio around your goals and risk level, then manage and rebalance it for you in a single account. Our models favor low-cost funds and a disciplined, rules-based method designed to manage risk through changing markets.
Easy Enough for First-Timers
Built to outgrow a savings account over time
A savings account keeps your cash stable, but over long periods the stock market has rewarded investors who accept more risk. Answer a few questions and we will build you a diversified portfolio matched to your goals, designed to spread risk far more widely than any single stock.
Past performance does not guarantee future results.
Managed for you to keep things simple
We handle the day-to-day. We monitor your portfolio and rebalance it back toward your target allocation, and your dividends are reinvested automatically. You invest on your own schedule, with no one to call.
A disciplined way to start investing
“I wish I had diversified sooner” is a lesson many investors learn the hard way. You can start the right way from day one. With a $3,000 minimum to open, you get a diversified, professionally built portfolio, and you can watch how disciplined investing works as your balance grows.
Advanced Enough for Seasoned Investors
Built it yourself, or start from a model
Choose one of our managed models, Core or Socially Responsible, or select Build Your Own and construct a portfolio from hundreds of ETFs spanning U.S. and international equity, bonds, sectors, and commodities. You decide how hands-on to be.
Customize without compromising
Adjust the weight of any holding, add funds, or remove them at any time. We continue to manage and rebalance the mix you choose. Every position is a listed fund whose expense ratio we surface when available, so there are no hidden products and no individual-stock guesswork.
Advice you can hold us to
Before you invest, you review and sign an Investment Policy Statement that sets out your targets, risk limits, and how the account is managed. Gaard acts as your fiduciary adviser with discretionary authority to manage the account to that plan.

FAQ
Still deciding whether we are right for you? These questions may help. You can also review our Form ADV Part 2A brochure.
Is it complicated to set up?
No. You answer a few questions about your goals and risk tolerance, and we build a portfolio matched to them. Once you fund the account, we invest it according to the plan you approved.
What if I do not like your picks? Can I choose my own investments?
Yes. You can customize your Core or Socially Responsible portfolio, or build one from scratch. Choose from hundreds of ETFs across sectors, asset classes, and markets, and set your allocation weights however you see fit.
What if I want to pull my money out?
It is your money. You can request a withdrawal through Interactive Brokers’ secure portal at any time. Invested holdings are sold first and settle before the cash is available, usually within a few business days. Taxable accounts have no withdrawal restrictions; retirement accounts follow the usual IRS rules.
What will it cost me?
Gaard charges an annual advisory fee of 0.125 percent of the assets we manage for you. That is separate from the expense ratios charged by the funds in your portfolio, which are paid to the fund providers, not to Gaard. Full details are in our Form ADV Part 2A brochure.
How do I fund my account?
You fund your account through Interactive Brokers’ secure portal, our custodian. Link a bank account and make a cash deposit, which typically settles in two to three business days. You can also transfer in an existing brokerage account (see the next question).
Can I transfer an existing investment account over?
Yes. Before anything sells, we show you exactly which positions would be liquidated to fit your target portfolio and the estimated tax that would realize. After you review and consent, you complete the transfer in Interactive Brokers’ secure portal.
Is my money protected?
All investing involves risk, and your investments are not protected against market losses. Your assets are held at our custodian, Interactive Brokers, a member of SIPC. SIPC protects customer assets if a member brokerage fails; it is not insurance and does not cover market Losses.
Can this help me save for retirement?
Yes. You can open a Traditional, Roth, or SEP IRA, built on the same platform as our taxable accounts.
Do you offer account types other than individual?
Yes. You can open an individual, joint, or trust account, as well as Traditional, Roth, and SEP IRAs.
What should organizations look for when choosing an OCIO partner?
Key factors include fiduciary alignment, investment philosophy, transparency in communication, and experience with similar types of institutions. It is important to evaluate how an OCIO’s governance model and decision-making process integrate with the organization’s existing oversight framework.
Is every OCIO engagement the same, or can it be customized?
OCIO relationships can be structured to meet each organization’s specific needs. Some clients delegate full discretion for portfolio implementation, while others retain certain responsibilities such as manager selection or policy updates. A tailored OCIO arrangement can reflect the governance structure, objectives, and operational capacity of each organization.
